The Blair County SEC has approximately 30 members, and the group’s main focus has been water quality monitoring. In the past, the group has also been in other related environmental projects such as monitoring the air for mercury, assessing abandoned mine drainage sites, and participating in a community bio-terrorism waterways watch. They have also worked with students, removed invasive weeds, and educated the public about radon in the home.
The group is sponsored by the Blair County Conservation District. Anyone who is concerned about the quality of water in Blair County and other environmental issues is welcome to join the group!.
